2022 Programs

What Is Coming in 2022

An exciting year is planned for 2022. There are three workshops planned plus two sew days. Of course we will have our usual May tea and December holiday party.

January will see a unique program – Have Fabric. Will Quilt – But What?  Five of our members have been given a yard of fabric and asked to make a 36 inch square quilt top that shows a special style of quilt design. Those members are Kirsten Reed with reproduction, Diane Arnett doing traditional designs with modern fabrics, Pat Wick sewing an applique design, Dawn Hunter creating an art quilt and Alie Doberstein demonstrating a modern quilt design. We will be celebrating our 16th year as well.

February and August will be our traditional sew days. In February the pink quilts will be worked on so hopefully you can come for at least part of the day. We make the pink quilt presentations every October..

March will see our favorite son Scott Flanagan. His program will be “My Quilting Journey.”  Scott will be running a workshop, “Jamaican Stars”. We will be taking sign ups starting at the January meeting.

In April we welcome Katie Pederson a modern quilter. She will be presenting “Quilt Modern” where we will get to see examples of modern quilts. Kaite will be doing a workshop called “Strip Tease.”

Our June meeting will be a Zoom meeting with Karen Brown. She will be presenting “Be the Best Quilter You Can Be.” Karen has a website called “Just Get It Done.” Perhaps we can all learn a lesson from her.

In July we welcome Lola Jenkins who does portrait collages. Her program is “Ms. Bubble Buster” with a workshop the next day on “Portrait Collage.” Lola was on Nancy Zieman’s show, “Sewing With Nancy.”

August will be an outreach sew day. We need to get those quilts made for places like the cancer center and the fire and police departments.

September will see Schoolhouse. The program committee is always looking for suggestions as to possible topics that the members are interested in.

October will be busy. Our speaker will be Susan Brooks who makes “Eco Dyed Art Journals.” Susan is from the Denver area and has a book out about her work. This is quilt show month so we will be collecting quilts for the show. Also, there will be the pink quilt presentations.

November will see “Be Sew Brave” making a quilt presentation to a vet. We will have elections for the 2023 executive board. The quilt show committee will be announcing the quilt show winners so plan on attending to see if you are a winner.

December is the traditional holiday party.
