Workshop with Barbara Blanton

Our June speaker is Barbara Blanton the founder of the Academy of Applique. Although her trunk show will be via Zoom, she will be in Longmont for a weekend in August. Barbara is flying in to spend the weekend of August 14th and 15th with us. She will be teaching her unique style of applique to all quilters of all abilities.   You can choose from (3) different blocks:  Welcome to Spring, Nancy and Me, or Colonial Eagles.  Then for the entire weekend you would work on your block.

Welcome to Spring or Nancy and Me are beginner to confident beginner blocks. Barbara will have “kits” or materials with her for a “Lab Fee” of $6.00 each (more information is at the bottom of the class sheet). The point of these (2) blocks is to get quilters interested in applique.  To that end, EVERYTHING will be provided; meaning all materials for the $6.00 “Lab Fee,” and all notions available to try.  If you like Barbara’s method, and/or the notion, they will be for sale.  Participants need not to bring anything but themselves, and a sense of humor.  This gets you involved for a negligible cost.

Colonial Eagles is a bit more advanced class.  There is a supply list if you would like to use your own stash. Barbara will have “similar” fabrics with her for sale if you want to use her fabrics.  Again, all notions will be available to use, or buy if desired.

So sign up today for our very own Academy of Applique! The retreat will run from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, August 14th and Sunday, August 15th at the Presser Foot. The cost is only $50. To Register fill out the form. Then send your check to the Longmont Quilt Guild, Box 6692, Longmont, CO 80501. The space is limited so get your registration in soon.
