Outreach Activities
Since our inception in 2006, Outreach has consistently been one of the guild’s highest priorities. We have several committees that provide outreach activities. Each committee has its own outreach program and target clientele. The committees are: Community Outreach, Be So Brave, Quilts for Kids, Pink Quilts, and Comfort Quilts.
Community Outreach: We provide quilts to our local community. We are currently working with the following charitable organizations:
- Victim Advocates Program of the Longmont Department of Public Safety
- Rocky Mountain Cancer Center
- Safe Shelter of St Vrain Valley
- The Inn Between
- Hospice at Longs Peak Hospital
- Fire and flood victims, as needed
We aim for quilts that are 40 X 60 inches. Please, no shorter than 60 inches as several of our recipient agencies prefer the quilts to be able to be wrapped around a person’s shoulders for warmth and comfort. Two of the recipient agencies also accept bed-sized quilts with appreciation.
Quilts For Kids Colorado
Our guild is very active making quilts for the Colorado chapter of the Quilts For Kids national organization. Click here for information on Quilts For Kids.
The guild provides kits to members who want to help make quilts to donate to this cause.
Bee Sew Brave
Members of this committee work tirelessly to create red, white, and blue quilts for veterans. The programs they support include:
- Wounded Warrior CAMO
- Tiny houses for veterans
- Quilts of Valor program
Pink quilts
Pink Quilts were created to recognize the members and the friends and families of members affected by breast cancer. Many people in the Guild participate in getting them from fabric to finished keepsakes. Nominations are held in the fall, and the Pink Quilts are given out at the October Guild meeting.
Donate to Outreach
Are you cleaning and tidying your fabric stash? Do you have fabric you want to donate to a wonderful community cause? Longmont Quilt Guild would love for you to consider donating to the Community Outreach Committee Stash! We are a non-profit organization and can provide tax-deduction receipts for you.
