Retreats
Membership in the Longmont Quilt Guild entitles members to attend any of the several retreats offered each year. The Retreat Committee plans 2 In-town retreats, usually one in July and the other in November. The Committee also offers two retreats at the Highlands Presbyterian Camp and Retreat Center in Allenspark, CO. The first one takes place in late May and the second one in mid-September. All of these retreats are reasonably priced and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The guild uses an online registration process, starting approximately two months prior to the event. Individual registration dates are announced at guild meetings and the newsletter.
In-Town Retreats
The July retreat is usually held at The Presser Foot in Longmont. Participants have their own sewing table and share ironing and cutting stations. This retreat can take a maximum of 24 participants, for each of the 3 days. Members may sign up for 1, 2 or all 3 days. This is a popular retreat and registration fills up quickly. The November retreat is held at The Moose Lodge in Longmont. This facility is quite large and we currently take 45 participants for this event. Everyone gets their own table and enjoys the central cutting tables, as well as many ironing stations and design walls along the periphery. This retreat is also very popular with our members.
Spring and Fall Mountain Retreats
Highlands Presbyterian Camp and Retreat Center is just an hour’s drive from Longmont and has been a popular place for our members to hold a retreat for many years. Members who register for these retreats enjoy the beautiful mountain views from our own dedicated sewing room, with a glass wall offering the sight of Mt. Meeker and surrounding peaks. We sew in this large room and sleep in comfortable rooms in the main lodge, each with their private bath. More details about these retreats is provided at guild meetings and in the newsletter.
